In 2007 we are celebrating the coming together of Woodley Methodist Church and Woodley
United Reformed Church to form Christ Church. It is also the 25th Anniversary of the
new church building opening, replacing what is now the church hall.
Below is the order of service of one of the special services we planned, that for the All Souls Day Service.
It was held on All Souls Day, Friday 2nd November 2007, at 11:00 and led by our own minister, Revd Dr Mike Hill,
and Judith Norris, local preacher and a church member.
All Souls Day Service
- Welcome and lighting of Peace Candle
- Opening prayers
- Hymn 1 - H&P 333 For the Beauty of the Earth (Tune: England's Lane)
- A few words by Mike entitled Friends on Earth
- Reading of the names the 21 people (aged 10 to 100) for whom Mike conducted their funeral in the last year
- Prayers

- The Lord's Prayer (traditional form)
- Meditation poem: You were Here, and Now You are Not by Kathy Galloway, read by Judith
- Introduction to music and invitation to light a memorial candle during it
