Monthly Games Afternoons

Last Sunday of Each Month

Games on Display

In 2012 and 2013 various groups ran games afternoons or evenings at Christ Church.

These were very sucessful, whether themed (for instance Scrabble) or mixed games.

Many of our members like to play games, our minister until 2019 was a games collector, our secretary an expert on various games including Go, and one of our elders is a games fan, so from 2014 we have been hosting monthly games afternoons on the last Sunday of each month.

If you have a particular game you want to share with others bring it along, or join in with the regular games (Scrabble, cards and so on) or what others have brought. Popular games have included Love Letter, Hanabi, Incan Gold and Camel Up (illustrated). New for 2016, among others, were Dobble, Fruit Salad, Mapominoes and SushiGo! In 2019 we played SushiGo Party and we continue to find new games.

All ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

On games afternoons, we try to get back to church for about a 14:30 start.

We will always finish by 18:30 so that you can then join the Café Praise service, or you can leave earlier and go home for tea or go to the service at The Chestnuts at 17:00, which is usually the same day.

Some times the meeting is replaced by games at other events, for instance the April 2014 meeting was at district activities afternoon at Oakwood, near Wokingham, and the August meeting was at the Circuit Gathering at Sherfield School. Neil likes to host Family Fortunes at these events as illustrated.

On Friday 27th May 2016 we celebrated NSPCC Big Board Game Day by an evening of games and supper that raised £79.40 and our 2017 edition on 31st March raised over £110.

In December a meeting is held on the evening of 31st December, to see in the new year, and only on the last Sunday if not a holiday.

Check the calendar for dates.
