Our times of worship are central to our life together here at Christ Church. You are most welcome to join us for any of our services.
Our morning service is an all-age style of worship, with regular input from our children and young people. Junior Church also usually meet during this service, leaving the service after their own choice of hymn (usually the second). From time to time we have a service with a special youth or family emphasis. Sometimes this is a Parade Service attended by local brigade and scout groups. Each week a créche is provided for the very youngest members of our church. Once a month the morning service is a Communion Service, at which the band will lead the first few hymns before passing over the the organ.
You are invited to join us for coffee, tea or squash in the lower church hall at the close of this service.
Our evening service is often in the traditional URC/Methodist style of worship, sometimes including Communion. In the Winter/early Spring, until Easter, it is held in the friendly atmosphere of our Stenner Lounge (use the halls entrance - ring the bell if the door is locked). Currently the evening service is only normally held two or three times a month - check the Preaching Plan. We are also holding a monthly informal Sunday Evening Fellowship meeting in the Stenner Lounge. Once a month we join the service at The Chestnuts (5:00pm). Sometimes there is a joint evening service at one of the other Woodley churches, such as the Free2B services, or elsewhere in the Reading Circuit.

Starting 8th May 2011, once a month we are holding our own Messy Church. It is on the second Sunday of each month (except in August) from 4:00 pm. Messy Church is very suitable for young families and includes craft and games, as well as singing, praying and learning, and refreshments. This is being run alongside the existing Messy Church that had been held for a year already at St James Church Centre. |
If you are visiting us to lead or take part in a service, then please note the information of the Circuit page of advice.
Our church and minister are available for weddings, funerals and other such services, subject to suitability, availability and the normal charges (which can be provided on application). Most charges are normally waived for members of our church family and their close relatives.
